The Lodge at Gold River

The Lodge at Gold River is a year-round fly-fishing lodge on the bank of the Gold River, minutes from Strathcona Provincial Park and roughly an hour and a half west of Campbell River. Three cabins hold three guest rooms each, all 540 square feet with two queen beds, a wood-burning fireplace and a granite bathroom, and the property holds 1,200 feet of river frontage plus a casting pond. It is unusual in this directory for publishing a full rate card: an all-inclusive nightly rate per person, and fishing added by the day. Heli-fishing is the signature product, flying anglers to water that takes a helicopter to reach, with long-haul and short-haul options; guided saltwater days on Nootka Sound and local freshwater days cost considerably less. A tack room rents Sage rods and Simms waders, and there is a heated drying room, a gym and bikes.
