How do you get to the Southern Gulf Islands?
BC Ferries sails to Salt Spring, Pender, Mayne, Galiano and Saturna from both Swartz Bay near Victoria and Tsawwassen near Vancouver. Float planes run direct from downtown Vancouver and Victoria harbours in about 25 minutes.
When is the best time to visit?
May through September is warm and dry, with July and August busiest. The shoulder months hold up better here than anywhere else on the coast because of the rain shadow, so April and October are genuinely viable.
